Sex: What Does A Buttplug Feel Like?

I got a question about one of my favourite sex toys today. So I guess it’s time to write about it! The topic is buttplugs. And I’m going to go over the general feeling of wearing one, depending on some factors.

Back when I was more sexually active, they were definitely something I deeply enjoyed. And I think the interesting thing about them is that the feeling they cause doesn’t need to be very intense at all. But it’s not always about the size of the toy, and something it’s about putting yourself in the right mood.

So let’s start with the main thing. The feeling of putting a buttplug in, pulling it out and just having it there are three different things. Let’s start with putting one in. The primary theme here is feeling like you are being spread. The tapered shape of the toy makes it easy to insert… though you should still observe your limits, just because something is easy to put in, doesn’t mean you are ready for it. But assuming the plug is within the range of what you can take, it’s a feeling of your entrance spreading more and more until you reach the widest part… and then it “pops” inside followed by a sense of relief. Depending on the person in charge of inserting the plug, this can be prolonged, pushing the toy in a little bit at a time and pulling it out, etc. Pulling the toy out is similar, although more difficult. The other end of a plug isn’t as tapered, so it’s a bit of a more intense feeling than when it went it. But still, the general idea remains the same. And by its general nature, I’d call it a stimulating experience. If you’re into anal sex at all, you’ll probably like it. But you might also find it uncomfortable. Buttplugs are not exactly meant to be used for in-and-out penetration. You can tease the entry and exit, but once it’s inside, it should likely stay in place.

The more nuanced aspect of it is, I’d say, wearing the plug for a prolonged time. And this can be examined from the perspective of a smaller plug or a bigger plug. What constitutes one or the other is purely subjective, but generally, I’d look more at the size of the neck than the size of the plug. Smaller plugs will have a thin neck. Maybe about the thickness of a finger. The bigger ones will be considerably thicker, enough that you can feel yourself maintaining a more… spread… entrance.

Let’s focus on the smaller ones. If you are not moving, it doesn’t feel like much at all. You will be conscious that it’s there, not so much on the inside as much as the neck and foot. If you move, you’ll feel it more. They don’t move a lot, but just enough where you can feel that it’s different. It’s kinda the case where it’s more titillating than stimulating. It’s not about the feeling of it being there, it’s about the fact of it being there and what it means for you. What it implies about the sex you’ll be having or the relationship with your lover. Basically, it’s psychological for the most part.

As the plugs get bigger, it does change the feeling. They become more stimulating. They keep you spread wider, they fill you up more, you feel them inside you more intensely. It can be quite pleasant. In the same way, you can be stimulated by anal sex, of course, but the sensations are more sparse, and I’d say it’s unlikely you can get off on just wearing a plug, even a bigger one. If it’s sufficiently big, it can make walking around difficult or even unpleasant. Uncomfortable, let’s say. And I would say that the bigger the plug gets, the less you should keep it inside. Bigger plugs make you feel fuller during sex too, b.t.w. And they have some similarities to double penetration, but again it’s not quite the same thing because it won’t be moving.

Plugs with more complex shapes can be a bit more stimulating, and there are, of course, vibrating ones that are not different in their application from something like a bullet vibrator. In that case, it’s more about the shaking than the shape or size. It just tends to spread through you as long as it contacts well enough.

I think that would be most of the basics of how it feels…

Now for the more personal note, and one that I feel quite a few women share. It’s the taboo aspect. Especially when you are wearing one in public, but even when it’s just in the bedroom. It can be a reminder of your place in the relationship, as a submissive, for example. But it can also be a promise of anal sex that reminds you of itself every time you move. A way to keep yourself excited before the actual sex starts. Either for a long time before (when it’s a smaller plug) or immediately before (really with any plug).

The psychological aspect of it is often missed in porn, or portrayed as purely degrading (I mean sure, it can be if you’re into that but… eh) when it’s more about excitement and anticipation. Being kinky and all that.
